PICS FROM LAST WEEK:
Will add captions later this weekend.
- Simplified view of what happens when a massive star collapses in on itself due to the tremendous gravitational “pressure”. The outer layers collapse in at speeds up to 50,000 km/sec. When a high energy electron “slams into” and is absorbed by a positive proton, a neutron is formed (and an electron neutrino). SO in the core of a neutron star a sort of “neutron soup” is formed.
- This is what I believe unfortunately.
- It is impossible to sit still.
- So “motionless” must be defined this way.
- When you are graphing v vs. t the area is ∆x.
- in this case you don’t get a square area because the height is in terms of m/s and the base is in terms of sec. So the area under the function is in terms of m (since the seconds cancels out).
- The Head-to-Tail method introduced.
- So in vector world 3 + 4 could equal 7, but it can also equal 6 or 5 or 4.5 or 3.2 . . . an infonite number of possibilities depending on how the vectors are oriented.
- Examples of adding vectors Head-to-Tail. Always draw the resultant either in a different color or make it dotted or dashed or something that distinguishes it from the vectors that were added to make it.
- vectors can cross each other when you add them up.
- 1.10.1
- 1.10.5 (part 1)
- 1.10.5 (part 2)
- We are going to be doing some very simple elementary introductory Integral notation. Don’t freak out. It’s just a fancy way of saying . . . we are going to find some areas of graphs.
- The following are examples we did in Friday’s classes showing how to write the equations which represent the process of finding areas under functions.
