Thur(2/18) —

  • Will finish 6.3 and continue to introduce FBDs
  • Mr. Pentecost worked 6.2.7 with you. This is a very important (read TESTABLE) problem.
  • Hand out 6.4 and started working on FBDs
  • The class went over 6.4.(1-3)
  • No homework (except the 6.3 videos)

THURSDAY AT LUNCH (12:12-12:55):   Curtis Smith from Geosciences did a great job of presenting findings on Climate Change and answered some excellent questions. Oh, and he brought free Dominos Pizza!

  • Continue working on 6.4 FBDs — discussed Head-to-Tail method to help set up FBDs.

Wed (2/24 )—    

  • Work on 6.4 (the back)
  • Showed a short clip of Atlas, the latest anthropomorphic bipedal autonomous robot from Boston Dynamics. Click here for the clip.
  • Discussed the force of lift a little bit (from a molecular level)
  • Just barely started discussing Buoyancy in air and water
  • Discussed the details of the Force of thrust.
  • HOMEWORK: Finish 6.5 (the back). . . EXCEPT 6.5.10b  (we’ll discuss that in class)

  • Stamp/Call for 6.5 at beginning of period
  • watched a short video about Medicinal Chemistry
  • Did the demo with the vacuum cleaner blowing air between the two hanging cyclinders
  • Did the demo of the straw and two coke cans coming together
  • Discussed the molecular reason for the force of lift
  • Continue discussing the force of Thrust
  • Finished 6.5.10a and 10b
  • Worked 6.5.11
  • Worked 6.5.12 without using an orange equation.
  • HOMEWORK:  Finish the Packet 6 Video questions
