Thur–HO 2.9 What is the Slope of that Curve? Discussed Escape velocities; discussed gravity wells; discussed alien races and whether we could whoop them in hand to hand combat; Discussed how weird acceleration can be; Packet 2 Reading Answers due by 4:30PM; Discuss 2.9; EVENING: Soph/Jr PSAT Prep Session (6:308:30PM) (English)
Fri–Finished coloring in the Stegosaurus tail and showed how it could be used to determine the changing slope of the curve. HO 2.10. Went outside and “chased the mouse” to help us determine the trio. Rocketry applications are due by 4:30PM. Wrote down our data from the 9 meter ramp. Played volleyball outside for the last 15 minutes.

7th hour beat 6th hour in 4 moves. Will 6th hour want a rematch or will 3rd hour take on the challenge?


Using the “gold standard” approach in Unit Analysis. In the Gold Standard you start with the symbol equation then the Unit Analysis simply becomes writing the equation with the crazy units then adding all the conversions to get rid of the “French Pastry”.


Using the Gold Standard to solve 2.5.5. YOU START ITH THE EQUATION!! The problem is . . . what equation do you use. Well . . . we have 6 of them so far.

Leonardo Da Vinci thought about gravity (the term wasn’t even invented until the early 1500’s) but he didn’t do the math or experiment. It wasn’t until Galileo started studying it and trying to quantifying it that Physics was born.


Human reaction time. Yours is around 130 ms. Mine is more like 200ms.


Some of the groups went to the hallway to recreate Galileo’s Beautiful Experiment. Some have called it the greatest experiment ever done.


We are in the process of graphing our data just like Galileo did. Pretty cool huh?


Astronomy talk was great. Friday night. It was best when NHS students started asking questions.
